Ryan

Adopted!

Seeking Angel Adopter!

Our little Ryan has been in rescue since March 2024. This sweet pup is only two years young and but has had a long life of upheaval and distress. Tragically, he was born in the heinous and untamed conditions of a puppy mill, with no medical care or love, he fell through the cracks and ultimately landed in a shelter. Since his arrival he has had many challenges, but he has come a long way. He may be ‘different’ but he doesn’t know it. He has blossomed in his current foster home. Beautifully, he is now ready for his forever home!

Our Ryan is an incredibly special 2-year-old Cavalier who needs a caring home where he can be fully loved and accepted as he is. He deserves no less than this, and he will only be adopted to a patient, loving home with few expectations.

After countless vet visits and specialist consultations, it has been determined that Ryan has congenital hydrocephalus (water on the brain) as diagnosed with an MRI and board-certified neurologist. His forebrain, the center of all learning, is very small. Due to this, his recall and learning ability can be limited. He might learn something one day and forget it the next.

Eye contact is difficult to nearly impossible, but always positively engaging with what works for him. Ryan also is under the care of a Veterinary Behavioralist. CRF will provide the adoptive family with a consultation to be sure Ryan is set for success in his forever home.

The good news is that his hips, heart and ears are normal. He does well with house training if taken out often and/or when he starts pacing. He loves being on his foster dad’s lap for naps or to snuggle on the couch. Ryan is ready for his forever family.

He is playful in his way- whether chasing his reflection or a ball on the sliding glass door, he will bark to go out, then turn around come back in. He also seems to really like the idea of doors opening and closing. And, running in the yard is lots of fun.

Ryan sleeps on the big bed! Will also go to big bed or couch and nap in the day by himself. It's a darker room and with a sound machine playing white noise all the time. When told, he will also go to his crate. Like all cavaliers, he is very engaged at mealtime.

Ryan is not for everyone, but if you are willing to meet his unique needs, you will be a true Angel Adopter. We are accepting applications only from people who understand how special he is and will accept him as he is. Our sweet Ryan is patiently waiting for his forever family, a family wants to do a good thing for Ryan and be there for him- we know they are out there! xo
